Thursday, 19th of August in the year of our lord, 1697

Aloysius, my faithful steward,

It has come to my attention that although the food is being prepared, there is not nearly enough lamb being roasted, and as it is the favorite food of my dear husband, the Lord Sherwood, I am sure you will quickly see to this matter.

I also believe that the Lord and Lady Gracewick should be invited. I am sure they would be most displeased if they were not to receive an invitation, and that would be harmful to our treaty between our manors.

Make sure my husband's jester Lyle is placed near the main table. I would like four other jesters, some dancing girls, acrobats and fife players to also be in attendance.

See to it under pain of our intense displeasure!

Signed,
The Lady Sherwood

July 31st 1700

Please order ten haunches of venison to be stewed or braised with vegetables, four hogs to be roasted, one hundred rounds of bread, apples and pears and a few bunches of those delicious grapes, oh, and some of those delicious sweetmeats that were brought back from Belgium.

I do think you should find four new court jesters ours are not very funny anymore, I think they need retiring.

Jugglers and fire-eaters would be good and perhaps you could organise a jousting in the afternoon. Oh, and don`t forget the artisans, music is a must.

The guests should be seated away from the animals, in the shade with plenty of refreshments on hand.
The ladies must be offered one of the chambers to attend to their needs.
Chairs for the gentlefolk, benches for the commoners.

I think that will be all, thank you.
You may go now.
