Narinder Dhami was born in Wolverhampton and now lives in Cambridgeshire, After obtaining an English degree from Birmingham University, she did a PGCE course and began teaching in the early 1980s.

She worked as a primary school teacher for 10 years, but for the last nine years she has been a full time writer. In those nine years, Narinder has written almost two hundred short stories and articles for magazines such as Jackie, Catch and Playdays. For the last couple of years, apart from writing short stories and articles, Narinder has focused on writing children's novels. Her novel Angel Face (Collins) is soon to be dramatised for children's TV. Transworld published Annie's Game (Corgi Yearling) in 1999 and her second book, Animal Crackers (Young Corgi) will be published in June 2000. Narinder still contributes stories to children's magazines and until recently wrote a regular column for Writer's News magazine. Narinder often visits schools and libraries to talk to children about her books and creative writing in general. She also runs workshops, talks and seminars for both adults and children.
