Should dragons be a protected species?

From Georgia, 11, Poole, Dorset, England

what cheek! Dragons should certainly not be a protected species, we can protect ourselves!

From Doodles, 12, Oegstgeest, Holland

I think that Dragons should be saved from extinction. They have as much right as we do to live. Who is with me on this? Let's go!

From Lewis, 11, Thurlton, Norfolk, UK

I think that all dragons should be a protected species because they haven't done anything wrong and so why are we slaughtering them. Is it because killing them is fun or because the dragons want to be killed?

And I also think that if dragons were a protected spcies they wouldn't attack or destroy human life and well-being. I think that they would hide away and keep themselves to themselves, and I wouldn't of thought that the dragons would like it if they kept getting shot at and I don't think humans would like it either.
We say they are the horrible beasts, but I bet they say the same about us as well.

From Erica, 9, London, Ontario, Canada

I think dragons should like people and play with kids. what do you think ?

From Paul, 9, Ithaca, NY, US

There are very few dragons and they need to be protected.

From Hector, 15, Bucks

The trouble is that if you protect a species it alerts hunters to their presence. Look what happened to unicorns for example - hardly anybody beleived in them, but then they became a protected species and within a few years they were practically wiped-out by the greedy horn merchants.

From Owen, 11, Nottingham, UK

No, dragons will evolve to bigger species that are indestructible. Once that has happened they will escape and will burn cities and town and villages and hamlets.
It will be non-stop mass destruction and the world will be wiped out!! They may be pretty but beware!

From Leora, 8, Cedar Park,Texas, US

If a species protected dragons who would it be. Also, how would they protect dragons?

From Taylor, 9, Cedar Park, Texas, U.S.

Do you think people hunt dragons?

From Andrew, 10, Cedar Park, Texas, US,

Dragons are said to be myths. It is possible (if they are real) that they are in danger of survival every time there is a landslide. Some dragons will fall and they will become a more endangered species.
They should be protected or else they will be wiped out.
