Chapter Five

by St. Thomas of Canterbury RC Primary School, Bolton

Captain Pinash, Pazaz and Proddle stepped into the bright pink stadium and stopped in horror as they saw Daisy with the Pinkerellian.

"Daisy! Daisy!" they shouted. Daisy turned around and happily ran to them.

"Captain Pinash! How did you get here?"

"Well, it's a long story," he replied. "First we had to get the old, broken vacuum cleaner out of the recycle shaft and put it back together. This time we included the old jet booster engine that we found in the worn-out decaying store room. Next we attached the three, dark pink seats onto the vacuum cleaner. Eventually it was completed; we climbed carefully onto the vacuum cleaner and set off! Whoosh! We soared through space, past stars and comets, moons and planets. When suddenly we spotted a bright pink blob glowing luminously in the dark night sky. "

"That would be Pinkerello," cried Daisy excitedly.

"It was! Finally we were nearing the rocky surface of Pinkerello but how were we meant to land? We had forgotten to check the landing supplies. We were coming down at an amazing speed. CRASH!!" "You were very lucky," exclaimed an astonished Daisy.

At this time, not so far away, a big black ominous spaceship landed. It landed with a bump in an old crumbly deserted mine. A hatch raised slowly up, creak! Creak! Creak! Out puffed a pink gas and along with it, forty slimy furious slugs.

"Daisy," whispered Pinash. "I've got something to tell you. We have thought long and hard and we think we have come up with a plan to get you back to earth. All you need to do is act like a robot."

"O.K." said Daisy. "That's easy. I've already convinced must people here."

" Hu Hum," coughed the judge. "Can we start the contest now? I would like…"

Suddenly the slimy slugs barged through the door of the stadium. They were looking around, their eyes searching, scanning the arena and then they stopped and focused…. They had spotted the flower-making machine. All the slugs slithered over to the flower-making machine. Quickly Pinash, Pazaz and Proddle ran up to the flower making machine and sprinkled salt into the flower machine. When the slimy slugs approached the flower-making machine they spied the salt and backed slowly away. The inventor of the chocolate dream machine shouted, " Stop! Don't bash into my machine", but it was too late. Bang! All the chocolate poured out onto the slugs and began to set hard. The slugs were powerless, as they stood motionless covered in hard, set chocolate. The judge, angry at having his proceedings interrupted, made an announcement: " The winners of the Rose Cup are Pinash, Pazaz and Proddle with their slug-stopping invention."

Pinash, Pazaz and Proddle ran up to the judge and took the bright pink trophy engraved with pink rubies, which were sparkling in the golden sun. They took it straight out of the judge's hands grabbed Daisy and swiftly sprinted to the slugs' slug-shaped spaceship. They pressed a button on the side of the ship and slowly the spaceship door creaked open. They ran inside, the spaceship shuddered and then started to lift off.

"Who on Pinkerello is controlling the ship?" cried Pinash.

They looked around and saw a slimy slug at the controls. The slug was just about to blast them when Daisy found a ray gun and zapped him in one shot. The slug shrivelled up into nothing. Pinash took the controls and steered them away from Pinkerello and on towards Earth.

Pinash steered the ship all the way back to Calthorpe Grange, to the party, which was, by now, in full swing. The Pinkerellians were welcomed at the party and Daisy had a lovely time, as Cook gave her the evening off. It was soon time for the Pinkerellians to leave but nobody wanted them to leave, especially, of course, Daisy.

Pinash shouted, "Goodbye Daisy, Hope to see you again." "Goodbye" shouted Daisy tearfully "Come back and visit soon."

As the Pinkerellians were flying back they decided they would miss Daisy terribly and so they began to think long and hard about a possible solution. Pazaz remembered that the Rose Cup had magical powers and all they needed to do was to rub it hard and make a wish. So they collected up the trophy and wished for a Pinkerellian home on Earth so that they could visit Daisy whenever they wanted to.

Over the course of the next year the Pinkerellians lived some time on Earth and the rest of the time on Pinkerello and so everybody lived happily on Earth and on Pinkerello.
