"We've got to land quick!" shouted out Proddle.

"Look for somewhere flat," ordered Captain Pinash.

The Pinkerellians pushed their faces into the pink window, looking for a place to land.

"There!" called out Pazaz, "That empty field with the flags in it."

They landed the pink spaceship just before the engine spluttered to a stop. Amazingly they had landed in the very field that the Rose Cup Competition was to be held in.

Captain Pinash ordered Proddle to go and find some more fuel so that the ship could fly again later.

Daisy turned to the Pinkerellians. "If I give you the recipe for the peardrops, then you'll take me home?"

"Yes," called back Captain Pinash. "But, can you write it down - we might forget how to make them!"

Daisy wrote out the recipe for the sweetest ever peardrops on a sheet of pinkerellian pink paper, and handed it to the Captain.

"Thanks," said the Captain. "Have you got the bag of sweets as well?"

Daisy gave the Pinkerellians the bag of peardrops, and stepped back to watch the competition.

Daisy watched as the Pinkerellians were just about to win, when a big hand covered her mouth and grabbed her. She would have screamed but she couldn't because of the big hand around her mouth. She tried to struggle but the person was too strong. She turned around to see a big, ugly looking creature. He took her towards the small stall that sold some weird cakes called Mulliwugs.

"Who are you, and what do you want ?" she asked.

"I'm Scumball, and now you're MY invention!" he laughed.

Before she could say another word he pulled a necklace from around his neck and hypnotized Daisy for a short time. Scumball ran up to the judges and announced that he had a very late entry for the Rose Cup competition.

The Pinkerellians entered their peardrops. The judges tried them.

"These are nice." "Wow, these are delicious!" and "Where did you come up with this?" they asked.

The Pinkerellians put their arms around each other and whispered, "We - we have to be honest". So they told the judges that they got the recipe from Daisy, and that Daisy was not a machine, and that Scumball had kidnapped Daisy. After hearing this the judges decided that the Pinkerellians should be disqualified, as well as Scumball.

The Pinkerellians quickly entered the Popcorn Maker with a new sticker on the front, with the words "Pinkerellian Popcorn Maker" written on the sticker.

While they were doing that, Scumball grabbed the Pinkerellian Time Stopper he had pinched earlier, and entered that.

"What a very good machine," said the judges, looking at the Time Stopper. "You are the winner, Scumball".

Scumball gave an evil laugh and began to wave his arms about. Then he accidentally knocked over the Time Stopper. One of the screws fell out. The machine opened up and everyone could see……

... pink wires.

A breeze blew past the judges, and blew off the "Pinkerellian Popcorn Maker" sticker revealing its proper name.

"Well, well, well!" said one judge.

Then another one said "Well, a popcorn maker isn't as good as a Time Stopper"

Scumball began to worry. The judges now knew that the Time Stopper belonged to the Pinkerellians because of the pink wires inside it.

"PINKERELLIANS ARE THE WINNERS !!" shouted the judges.

Scumball began to sulk.

The Pinkerellians ran up to Daisy and gave her a big hug, then said "Do you want to go home ?"

"Yes please" said Daisy

"O.K. then" the Pinkerellians replied. So they went to the spaceship and got in and started it. When they were near Earth they gave Daisy a present. Her name was in fireworks all over the sky flashing and banging and lighting the sky up. They gave Daisy a card with their names on it, and a cute Pinkerellian Pinklebear.

They landed outside Daisy's house, and watched as she walked back inside.

"Remarkable!" said Captain Pinash.

"What is ?" asked Pazaz.

"That something that could do all those jobs wasn't a machine after all," replied the Captain.

They sat in their spaceship and stared out through the pink glass window as Daisy entered Calthorpe Grange.

"There you are, Daisy" shouted Cook. "Come on girl, there are guests waiting to be served at the birthday party!"

Daisy turned, looked up into the sky and whispered goodbye.
