I am so fed up with war!

By Mazza, 11, Winchester, UK

I would just like to say that I am so fed up with WAR! We often have helicopters land at our school, because it's near to the hospital. The first time one did, I was so scared that it was a bomb attack. And our PM said it was the War for PEACE??? He never told us that we were going to war to capture Saddam Hussain. He said it was because he had Weapons of Mass Destruction. They didn't find any when inspectors went over to Iraq. Why didn't Tony Blair tell his country that we were going to war to capture Saddam Hussain? I think that if Tony Blair is going to be a good PM to his country then he needs to be truthful. And think of all the people that the USA and the UK killed in the War for Peace who were totally innocent. I think, and probably many others think that he has put us in more danger, instead of releasing us from it. It's so upsetting. Why can't everyone love and respect each other? (March 2004)

I wear my rings with every thing. People say those are not real. I say don't be for sure because these are my rings as they sit on my hand and shine like a glaze of things.
Come on people let's wear our rings, we can bling. Come on let's wear our blings with every thing, you know what I mean.

KIDS

By Ashley, 11, Memphis, TN, USA

Kids will be kids
No matter what you say nor do
We will always be kids.

Parents don't try to fight it
Cause we do what we want when we want
And when you put us on punishments
It dosen't do us any good
Cause when we off punishment
We do the same thing
So just face it kids are going to be kids

Equal rights

By Rozzie, 13, Norfolk, UK

Hi guys. I just want to say that I reckon everyone in the World should have equal choices and oppurtunities. Who cares if you are a boy or a girl? Who cares if you are Protestant or Jewish? Who cares whether you are ethnic or pale? What difference does it all make? We are all individuals, with hopes, beliefs and dreams, so why can't we live up to them, just because somebody else is in the way? A really good book about racism and equal rights is Noughts and Crosses, by Malorie Blackman. It is great, and it makes you think, long after you have put it down. Treat others as you would like to be treated - it isn't really that hard, is it? (Feb 2004)

My Opinion On School

By Michelle, 10, Brook Park, USA

I don't like school. It's not very fun. We only have art and chorus once a week. We have gym twice a week (two times too many if you ask me!!!). I get tired of it more and more every day. I think we should do less math and reading and more fun activities. I'm happy that it's Christmas vacation right now where I live! I like Christmas and I'm tired of school. I'm tired of my teacher yelling at me so often. I'm tired of having to go there every single day!!! (December 2003)

Are boys sexist

By Paul, 11, Swindon, UK

Dear Miss Kate,
Miss Kate as I am a boy I would have to disagree with you because most women can be sexist as well as men. So that could offend some men such as myself. There are some women teachers that always pick girls for good parts when boys get rubbish parts. So doee that make men so sexist?

Fox hunting

By Abigail, 11, Swindon, UK

I think fox hunting should be banned because its very cruel to the foxes and in some cases to the horses. I also have a true story to tell you. One day out in the countryside {where my nan lives} at about 2:oo in the arfternoon the fox hunters came to the farm across from my nan's house and were winding up her horses and one of their dogs jumped on to a horse and drove it in to a fence and the horse was badly injured. Overnight he died in so much pain and shock my nan was in tears. And all because of those fox hunters who let their dogs out of control. I think the horse felt more like a fox than a horse. Sexism

By Amy and Natalie, 12, Swindon, England

We are replying to Dami from the USA. We agree with you. Why should girls always be the centre of attention when sexism occurs? Just because boys act stronger they have feelings as well. Young girls in particular should think about this because, remember, we're getting married to one one day!!!! I mean, what's the point of sexism? Why can't every one just ignore it? Men and woman have equal rights and that's the way it should stay. (December 2003)

Girls are cool

By Sofia and Becca, 11 and 11, Swindon, UK

It's ok for girls. They have a cool life style when it comes to clothes. Girls look equally as cool in tracksuits ands hoodies as boys but boys look kinda weird in miniskirts! Wouldn't you think it would be a bit freaky if you saw a boy walking down the street in a dress? Girls fashions rock! (December 2003)

Year 6 homework

By Sofia and Becca, 11 and 11, Swindon, UK

When we were in year 6, we did have a bit of homework, but we had to have it to revise for SATS. We had homework given out on Friday and handed in on Wednesday. After SATS, we did not have any homework. However, we did have a lot but it was just for SATS revision - and the homework was a little bit harder than the actual test! (December 2003)

All what I think about the Blackeyed Peas

By Lisa, 12, Berlin/Steglitz, Germany

My favourite popgroup is called "Blackeyed Peas".
They become popular with their song "Where is the love".
I like the song because the music is good and the text too.
It´s about a question why there is so much unjustice.
The videoclip shows that.

Re: "You are right (replying to Ms.Kate)"

By Hayley, 11, Chicago, IL, USA

Re: "You are right (replying to Ms.Kate)" by Chelsea
You are sexist. Boys are not dumb. Not all boys anyway. I am a girl, but that doesn't mean that I think girls are better. My best friend is a boy and he's really cool. Sure, there are boys that aren't exactly the sharpest tool in the shed, but there are girls like that too. Girls and boys, too have stereotyped themselves to be so different that people feel forced to think that one or the other is better and it's not true. Also keep in mind that it's not just women who you're here because of, you need men too. This world wouldn't survive if it was just women. Or if it was just men.
