  Friends

Feeling Big

By Savannah, 12, USA

I have this friend named Ashley, and she's really cool. Except I feel like I am more grown up than her. Because I have a big sister who's 15 and a big brother who's 16, I watch pg-13 movies and maybe even R movies, and I know pretty much every rap song in the world. But since Ashley has two little brothers and a little sister, she only watches cartoons and G rated movies, and she does not know any rap songs unless I teach them to her. I feel like she will never grow up and be like me. Please help!

Envy

By Sara, 13, CA, USA

We look down on each other,
Hating one another,
For all that we aren`t,
And they are.

You wish you were them,
They wish they were you.
Wouldn`t it be easier,
If we could both just be me again?

So Far Away But So Close

By Olivia, 10, NJ, USA

Cara is my cousin and best friend. I have a lot of friends, but none of them measure up to her. Cara is funny, witty, serious, intelligent, cool, wierd, crazy, etc. There are so many things that she does for me that I can't say. She's the only one for me and I'm the only one for her. Together forever. Best friends for life. I love you Cara.

My friend's character

By Niroj, 16, Nepal

Never be fascinated by people's beauty look because even iron can be plated with gold and it so happened in my life, my friend has been so. I have got fascinated by her beauty and we were nice friend, but suddenly one incident in my life, then up to today she has not spoken to me. In those days I used to think that she was so understandable friend of me but nowadays I think she was just a glitter but not a gold, because I compare her face rather than her character and up to today I have been dishearted by her activities. So I have one advice to all my friends that "all glitters is not a gold". (October 2006)

Love

By Brooke, 12, Ruawai, New Zealand

Love is an illusion
People usually believe in
It messes everybodies' heads
We go crazy trying to keep thin

Love is a beautiful thing
Will also cause us pain
And when we take a wrong turn
We'll be standing in the pouring rain

Treat love with your utter respect
Your happiness will definitely reflect

loneliness

By Lulu , 13, Hatfield, UK

A friend is treasure in my eyes,
The one whom I always stay close to,
Too close to never go wrong.
A diamond could never change anything because you are my treasure
Money could never break us apart.
When we hold hands it's a chain that hold us together; which is love.
To get to breaking the chain its impossible.
Our love isn't invisible,
It won't fade away.

You were my friend, my world but when it was time I had to,
To move away,
So on my own,
I feel so all alone.
I need a miracle in my life.
I need a friend.
A new heart.

Day and night,
I wonder why, it had to be,
The one darkness had chosen; to give me loneliness and take away my brightness.

What else can I hold, when I don't have the strength
My heart is beating, blood pumping around, but love isn't.
I feel something missing,
Something that I have been searching,
Friendship.

I am trying to fight loneliness,
Trying to get back my brightness,
But I keeping on falling.
The problem is I don't have a hand,
The hand that used to hold me.

I don't know where to look for love,
Where to find the heart of gold.
Its just too much,
Too much tears,
That flow on my face to the floors.
Fears that has been trapped inside.

All I wanted was a friend,
To have fun with
To share with,
Someone to love.
To be just happy.

That's what I need; A friend.

LOVE

By Brooke, 12, New Zealand

L is for loyalness, stand by them all the time
O is for original, shall never be the same
V is for very kind, love is so kind
E is for ecstatic, no parts are at all lame

Love is the chain of hope not hate
Love will always give us faith

BFFs

By Sara, 12, Pennsylvania, USA

Best friends should be there for each other
To help when another is feeling down
To help you calm your fears
And to help dry your tears
Friends should be nice and genorous
courteous, and understanding
Friends need each other
And a good relationship
Friendships need time to grow
Don't think it's time to give up
Just have patience until a good
relationship is built

i am me and you are you

By Madeleine, 12, Henleaze, Bristol, UK

Me, myself and I alone,
Know all that I have seen.
As friends we've been through much together,
We've laughed and cried,
Shared what we hide,
And yet we are unique,
Our talents are alive.
I am me, you are you,
We'll never be the same.
For the differences are great in numbers,
A few feelings we may share.
No matter what,
Nor how we try
I'm different,
So are you.
For I am me and you are you,
We'll never be the same.

My Best Friend

By Lucy, 10, Texas, USA

My best friend's name is Alyssa. She always writes me little notes saying we'll be best friends forever and she draws us together when we're older. We've been friends for about...2 years maybe. But, the thing is, she's not going to the same middle school as me! One of my other friends, Claire, is friends with Alyssa, too, but not BEST friends. Claire is going to the same school as Alyssa :(. I'm afraid that they'll become best friends and I'll be left out. It's hard to believe that Alyssa would do this to me, but she just might. What if she starts being best friends with Claire, and stops talking to me? If any of ya'll know what I should do, PLEASE tell me. From: Lucy (June 2006)

I have a dream

By Emily, 12, Midlothian, Scotland

I have a dream
That we can save what we had
I have a dream
Where nothing has changed
I have a dream
That it's me not her that she sits beside
I have a dream
Without the girl that stole my best friend
I have a dream
Where she didn't change
I have a dream
That's my old life
I have a nightmare
That is this life
I have a dream
That my heart is still whole
I have a dream
Where I don't have to hide
I have a dream
That was real so long ago
I have a dream
That my eyes don't sting with tears
I have a dream
That this lump in my throat might go away
I have a dream
That my pillow is dry
I have a dream
Where I don't have to suffer
I have a dream
Where I can be me
I have a dream
Where I don't have to act.

Friendship

By Rachel, 11, Buckinghamshire, UK

When you're sad someone's there,
Someone who will always care.
Call a friend to come around,
Someone where love is found.

They are there to cheer you up,
They are there for you.
They are there no matter what,
To help the day pass through.

They will always make you smile,
And you will pass it on.
They will smile at someone else,
It'll go on and on and on.

So smile around,
And spread some love,
Don't leave it undetected.
A happier child will end the day,
Because you gave your love away.

My best m8

By Nadine, 10, London, UK

Well I'm writing about my best friends Natasha and Polly they are like family to me now and I have no idea what I would do without them. Because Natasha is always running about and always ready for most types of games and Polly is more into adventure games so more laid back games. We are like a 3-leaved clover we don't always have good luck but we always stick together. (May 2006)

I have a problem

By Brenagh, 11, Liverpool, UK

I have had this best friend since I have been 5. But all of a sudden she has become interested in wanting a boy friend. I a not ready for all this. We are only 11 and she is trying to act 16. I just want her to go back to normal. I want her to be the girl that would come out and play football, or come to the bowling ally. She says I am un cool for not getting a boy friend and she does not want to hang around me if I do not have a 'fella'. I don't know what to do, I do not want her to not be my friend any more. She is making me really sad and my mum is getting worried, because I am losing sleep over it. I don't know what to do, so if somebody out there does please, PLEASE! give me some advice because it is killing me inside. (May 2006)

Ever Cried In the Bed?

By Brianna, 11, USA

Ever went home,
Put your bookbag down,
Knowing what your friends just said?

Went to your bedroom,
Grabbed your favorite pillow,
Not knowing that you've been mislead?

But you see,
What's happened to me,
Doesn't that ache your head?

Being picked at in school,
You've been called a nerd,
Nowhere left to turn.

Your mom and dad,
Haven't got a clue,
About what you've been thru?

Ever been afraid,
About the next day,
Of what they just might say.

Well, listen to me clear,
Wonder can you hear,
They're NOT your friends.

By Sarah, 13, New York, USA

I've found in you
A friend to laugh with
To cry with too,
You understand.

I want to share
These special moments
With friends that care
Like you do.

You're there beside me
To help me grow
To cheer and guide me
And make me happy.

You're always mine
Though maybe far
You make life shine
I love you all:
Angie P.

Jessica
Though weeks may pass
And years may end
I'll always be
You're forever friends
